Couple very tiny and a few minute marks. Style: Gothic A real rarity, the design is uncommon, this
colour combination rare on any tile, put them
together and astonishing. I love the style,
gothic in modern, lead-glazed majolica, for the
brilliance of the glazes gives something extra
to a style that for the most part is rather
formal. Somehow I think this would be an affront
to most clergy even in the 19th century when
grand churches were filled with design and
colour. Bright pink with a near crimson red, that
vivid turquoise, the background seems to
oscillate between celadon and taupe. There's
more fun to be had yet for the set from a
fireplace of which at least half are reasonable
condition or better, vary in colours, in
thickness, in condition and maybe more that has
to be uncovered as cleaning progresses. This is
the first good enough, maybe the best, it's a
cracker. The design albeit of a limited genre one of
the more popular of its type, I believe I have
seen five or more colourways this the brightest
and most dramatic but a couple of the other no
slouches either. Verso very clean, a little smoke stain,
embossed registration number.
