Tiny chips top left corner and upper right edge,
slight chipping lower left edge, a minute chip,
other slight loses to the rim, very minor surface
marks. Style: Art
Nouveau Secessionist "Fills the tile," it's a great design
attribute for collectors, that is for designs
that are self-contained on the tile. Relatively
few in number due to lack of suitability where
framed such as in furniture and fireplaces I
love them, I seek them out, when I first saw
this my eyes popped. There are designs that fill
the tile more than this, just, but nothing with
this movement. I guessed maybe Mintons, Léon Solon at
al, but it's Boote perhaps clearer when see up
close as the printing lacks Mintons quality on
such wares. On a Boote blank anyway, the later
edwardian grip they apparently kept exclusively
for their own use, not that mistakes can't
happen of course. What a colour too, a haunting steel blue, it
suits it well although there's no saying other
colours wouldn't be great too. And one can
fantasise about seeing a tubeline version in
majolica glazes
. Verso clean of adhesive, embossed England,
some minor stain.
