Small chip left edge more on the side than the
face, other minor marks to the rim, near perfect
surface. Style:
Floral A rather rare design from a company whose
wares are not often found, of lilies in colours
unusual for the flower. One of three Derby
companies to register tile designs the others
being ironfounders, Derwent Foundry Co. and
Pickersgill & Frost. The companies wares are not often found and
even less often recognised for its initials
found embossed verso on some of their tiles,
D.T.B., found on this and other examples of its
wares, have been erroneous attributed to Doulton
Tiles, Burslem in all the established
literature. I have also recently seen this tile
attributed to Maw & Co., clearly the vendor
has not seen many Maw & Co. tiles. A nice tile for collectors of Derby interest
wares and being a registered design, quite late
in the day for a floral tiles of its type, art
history and registered designs Verso near perfectly clean, embossed
D.T.B..
