Touch of roughness upper right edge, wear to the
tip of the petal where it reaches the edge just
below, minor surface marks. Style: Gothic/aesthetic victoriana This is a very substantial and in all ways
excellent tile. A very full design, almost
completely standalone however two petals in each
corner combine to make a tiny flower in a panel.
Gothic and aesthetic movement influences in an
overall full and fussy but not overbearing
design all the elements of which reflect the
liveliness of nature. Super quality manufacture the pattern
precisely and sensitively modelled and moulded,
the body a slightly thicker than usual buff
semi-vitrified buff clay the only criticism of
the manufacture being a slight pooling of the
glaze. Verso very clean, embossed Staffordshire Knot
mark and impressed pattern number.
