perhaps the most durable decorative tiles ever
made. The clay is the local Jackfield clay
famously used for tea and coffee pots due to its
strength and impermeability. The clay being very
dark brown limited decoration so prompted the
'Jackfield ware' pottery black glazed and often
gilded or decorated with enamels. This tile is unglazed the dullness of the
body lifted by the intricate impressed pattern,
the flowers and leaves painted with a stiff
enamel creating relief almost like impasto.
Suitable for exterior use in walls and garden
