Two arts & crafts painted panels
featuring maidens, presumably from a series of
twelve representing the months of the year, May
looking rather precocious and December quite
virginal. Well painted underglaze in an
excellent range of predominantly tonal blues and
yellows as was a style of the times and finished
with a brilliant glaze.
Versos very clean, embossed Steele &
Wood, Stoke upon Trent.
May: very tight hairline bottom tile, very
difficult to see, other very minor marks mostly
losses to the rims, surface very near perfect
and brilliantly glazed.
December: Minor chips top corners, tiny chip
bottom edge, other very minor marks mostly
losses to the rims, surface very near perfect
and brilliantly glazed.
