Couple tiny rim chips, minute rim
chips/roughness, exceedingly minor surface
marks Style: Aesthetic This is rather fascinating, a design that
should have been popular but it is rarely found,
this example of the design in a gorgeous if
somewhat inexact 'flow-blue'. Appearing in the
Mintons' catalogue as pattern number 2170 in
turquoise on white (Mintons' pattern numbers
included colours and I don't think this could be
called turquoise) and on a sheet dating from
1888. Perhaps the choice of 'block' print to create
the design rather than lithoprint the reason for
its rarity for it sure is the kind of
uncontroversial gothic influenced design that
should have appealed to a wide range of
tastes. Also perhaps more a tile for the student of
design history/researcher for Mintons registered
few designs in the 1880s. Verso very clean, embossed Mintons etc.,
printed registration number. Bottom right corner trimmed for the original
installation and a very tiny subsequent chip, three
minute rim chips, surface is perfect, some glazing
flaws
