Minor losses to the
rim. Style: Art
nouveau/aesthetic/classical fusion A classic example of design being of
universal appeal and with superb engraving
giving a wide range of tones and textures from a
single print. It was Mintons most popular
transfer printed design and justifiably so,
every collection should have one or two for it
was made in a variety of colours. From the
Léon Solon era, to my mind Mintons
greatest period, and possibly by his hand When seeking broad appeal the designer has to
cater to many tastes and here the designer has
been successful. Though late 19thC we see the
two predominant styles of the edwardian era, art
nouveau and neo-classical, there is also a nod
to aesthetic and arts & crafts. The design
also works well as an individual tile and as a
pilaster, frieze or panel, truly a work of
genius. Versos fairly clean, embossed Mintons etc,
clear pattern number and design registration
number. Two very tiny rim
chips. Two very tiny rim
chips. Tiny chip bottom left
corner.
