A singularly exceptional tile, well it
can't be because they must have made at least a
few of them however they just can't be found.
It's a very nice tile, and a good and clever
design which fills the space with very pleasant
foliage reserving the bright painted colours to
the focal point flower and buds. The question is
why didn't they sell many of them and why didn't
they make more similar?
There are fewer than a dozen, maybe half a
dozen, printed floral tiles from Mintons. In the
1880s major companies were built on the back of
printed and painted floral tiles whilst Mintons
apparently ignored the market.
This is the nicest I have seen from Mintons,
and I've been looking for them for a long while,
it is one of those items that to have in your
collection will make others take pause.
Verso very clean, embossed Mintons etc,
printed pattern number.
