A couple of very tiny rim chips and slight
roughness to the tip of the edge in a couple of
places. Surface has a single tiny chip, no wear,
rubbing or scratches. Perfectly clean and
brilliantly glazed. Style/technique: Aesthetic print
& tint An excellent tile, an all over pattern so
beloved by the arts & crafts movement. Rare
to find this kind of design in majolica for when
the style was most popular to majolica technique
was less developed and very problematic and so
expensive to produce. Nicely painted in four
pleasantly restrained colours. It was great to find this tile, a design I
can't recall seeing before yet within a few days
we bought another similar design and coloring
apart from the flowers are pink. One of those
coincidental occurences and they make a nice his
and hers pair. Verso perfectly clean, though some clay loss
from removal, embossed name etc and kiln logo,
painted pattern number. The image is full size at 72 dpi (about 430
pixels wide) in maximum quality JPEG format, a
larger 120 dpi image also in maximum quality JPEG
format can be forwarded by email if required. The image is a little oversize rather than
cropped close to the edges so that the edges can
easily be seen and any chips etc can be quickly
spotted. Other marks described are usually not
visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as
one normally sees it and can only be seen with a
critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch
imperfections in reflected light. For more details
of how we describe marks see Condition.
