Condition: Excellent Overall excellent condition, superb
cleanliness and glazing, most damages in the
passing of time completely hidden by the
fireplace frame those remaining on view being
insignificant.
Style: Floral rococo An excellent pair of fireplace panels with
double tile centre printed in brown and tinted
featuring blossom and fruits. We used to see
these quite often when first dealing in
fireplaces and tiles in the late 1970s and
1980s, now a good set is hard to come by. Made
by Booth's one of the best quality manufacturers
of transfer printed tiles famed for their most
brilliant 'glaze that did not craze' however
that being due to the semi-vitrified pale buff
clay rather than the glaze itself. The pattern
made by at least two other companies one of
which was Corn Bros, Booth's being far superior.
We used to find sets in fireplaces composed of
tiles from different manufacturers at times with
dramatic colour variations, even from a single
manufacturer colours could vary widely, this is
an excellently matched set. Versos very clean, some smoke and rust stain,
printed pattern numbers.
