One tiny and a few very tiny/minute rim chips,
some rubbing to surface, the blue glaze has rather
pleasantly iridised. Style:
Gothic A rarely found technique of painting majolica
glazes over transfer prints, 19th century
examples seemingly restricted to Marsden and
Wedgwood and there is little doubt that Marsden
made the Wedgwood examples, in the 20th century
Richards made a few patterns with the
process. A most dramatic effect belying the simplicity
of the principle although no doubt the practice
was more complex than the principle otherwise we
would see examples from other manufatcurers. Verso very clean, painted pattern number,
printed registration number.
