No major damage but a bit untidy around the rim
(although white marks are glaze misses), surface
rubbing and a few pinpricks. Style: Art
nouveau This design was the most popular design from
an unknown maker so it was quite a surprise to
find this example by Corn Brothers. The outline
differs slightly so definitely not from the same
mould and the pattern numbers differ. Most
popular in almost pastel colours but numerous
colourways have been seen however I don't think
any as great as this. Unfortunately the glaze
painting's imprecision oversteps the boundary of
'arts & crafts', 'celebration of
imperfection' or wabi sabi nevertheless quite
attractive and of interest to serious collectors
and researchers. Verso quite clean, embossed C in opposing
corners, painted pattern number.
