Minute chip lower right, very tiny chip top left
corner, glaze flakes to the tip of the rim, other
very minor marks. Style: Art
nouveau This is just one of those outstanding
designs, seen a few times over the decades and
most books manage to find an example but it is
not often that it comes to market. Vendors less
familiar with Marsden oft suggest Voysey, I can
say here and unequivocally back up with evidence
that Marsden indisputably relegated Voysey when
it came to tile design. Found in several
colourways, this is colourway A, the first, bold
colours for colourway number one, usually we
find yellows/greens/creams/browns and maybe a
touch of pink or blue in the first colourway but
Marsden was adventurous. Versos very clean, embossed registered and L,
stamped pattern number. Chip/wear top right corner otherwise
perfect.
