japanesque style elements including mons,
flowers and butterflies elements, in bright
cobalt blue on a good white clay body. In Owen
Gibbons distinctive style, made at the Broseley
works. Owen Gibbons trained at the South Kensington
School of Art and was for a time, curator of the
Royal Architectural Museum, Westminter, London
before becoming head of the Coalbrookdale School
of Art in Shropshire. Whilst there he designed a
number of tiles for Maw & Co. He was also a
principle in the company of Gibbons Hinton &
Co established by his brother Francis Gibbons in
the mid-1880s. Verso rather grubby, embossed Maw, Broseley,
Floreat Salopia badge etc.
