Some light rubbing near the rim. Style: Art
nouveau An excellent art nouveau tile, super quality
manufacture and an uncommon selection of
colours. A stylised floral design with a bold
flowerhead, small but complex and with three
colours, that almost hovers with wing like
groups of leaves and tapering 'tail' Malkin are a vastly underrated company, one
of the earliest and so inevitably strongest in
floor tiles however their wall tiles were mostly
superb. Their lack of recognition is contributed
to by incorrect attribution of one of their
commonest verso pattern with Pilkington in
Austwick and subsequently repeated in lesser
publications. Outstanding is their range of
colours, relatively few of their art nouveau
tiles are in standard colours, they used lots of
unusual blues, reds and other colours. Verso perfectly clean, embossed England,
painted pattern number.
