Very small/tiny rim chips, short hairline origin
mid right edge Style: Gothic When Robert Minton Taylor (who was trained by
Michael Hollins) and Colin Campbell split from
Hollins Campbell copied the printed and a few
hand painted tiles from Hollins under the
Mintons brand, Robert Taylor took on the
encaustics and other techniques that Mintons Ltd
apparently didn't want to do. Campbell was the
owner of Mintons Ltd and was clearly
instrumental in the establishment of Robert
Minton Taylor's tile company for soon it was
renamed The Cambell Brick & Tile Co and
shortly afterwards became the Campbell Tile
Co. Verso very clean but some stain from mortar,
embossed The Campbell Brick & Tile Co, Stoke
on trent and compass points badge.

A good gothic, puginesque enamelled
majolica tile quite a rarity and I can't recall
seeing this design before. Tough, dense buff
clay with opaque enamels as Michael Hollins
developed when managing the rile making for
Minton & Co.
