Some minute chips and glaze losses to the rim,
extremely minor surface marks.. Style: Classical pictorial A rarely found tile with a scene showing
Queen Isabella I of Castile and Christopher
Columbus. Isabella famously sold her jewels to
finance the voyage of Columbus which led to the
opening of the 'New World' of America and this
illustrates the negotiations. Manufacturer
unknown, perhaps a one-off style pattern for the
manufacturer for it is likely to have been
produced as a commemoraive tile for the five
hundredth anniversary in 1892. Verso very clean, ring grip pattern,
unmarked.
