Two very tiny and about a dozen minute rim
chips, few very light surface marks. Style: Arts & crafts An unusual arts & crafts/aesthetic floral
tile with a central circle full of flowers
surrounded by a chequer pattern in warm
chocolate brown on a buff clay with darker
speckles body. A stencilled tile, the stain
apparently sponged, intriguing how they created
it, the decoration in the centre circle with all
separate parts as usual with stencilling but the
outer part is continuous so normally one would
think the stencil would fall apart. Craven Dunnill were a specialist art tile
maker making both wall and floor tiles, with
thousands of designs but rather low volume of
manufacture almost all of their decorative tiles
are rather rare. Verso very clean, embossed Craven Dunnill
etc..
