Perfect rim, minor manufacturing flaws, very
minor surface marks but all glazes most
brilliant. Style: Art deco Stylish ring o' roses and a ribbon (for her
hair). A fascinating design and a quandry for what
does one call the style, art nouveau, art deco,
classical? If we said a fusion of the three
which is the clearest? A ring o' roses, garland
or wreath design with a ring of deep pink roses
and tied with a ribbon, a Mackintosh style
ribbon I might suggest, perhaps one could say
Glasgow style! Could well date from the 'art nouveau
period', as early as 1907 or thereabouts,
potentially 1920s, I have opted for circa 1915
in part due to the manufacturing quality. Lea
& Boulton usually super quality
manufacturers but this looks more like Rhodes,
weak pressing causing losses to the rim and
outline but fabulously brilliant glazes. Versos very clean, embossed copyright and
pattern number.
