A few very tiny rim chips, pinprick mark lower
left leaf and touches of rubbing to a few high
points otherwise perfect surface. Style/technique: Floral majolica I really like this design, I've had one in my
collection for many years. A bold floral design
with a great big flowerhead as favoured in this
period, a hint of the art nouveau to come with
some of the 'lazy floral' characteristics
present in many asymmetric designs of the time.
Four colours, these would have been superb in
iron fireplaces of the times for reflecting the
fireglow, brilliantly glazed. Pattern number 24 so one of the first designs
by Henry Richards its introduction will date
from 1901, these made soon after around 1903
judging by the grip pattern. Condition: Very good Three very tiny corner chips and a few minute
glaze losses to the rim, two very tiny surface
chips, whiter mark on petal is a minute glaze
blow. Condition: Excellent Very tiny chip upper right, three very tiny,
glaze losses to the rim.
