Minute rim chips and a little slight roughness
in places, two very tiny scratches otherwise the
surface is perfect. Style/technique: Arts & crafts
print A good and full flowing design in the
'all-over' style of arts & crafts taste.
Well printed in a light steel blue this is a
quality tile in design and execution. Versos very clean, Mintons etc and Made in
England embossed, printed design registration
number. The tile will likely have been made
around 1895, although all books say with
certainty that 'made in England' is exclusively
a 20thC mark Mintons Ltd used it in the 19thC
apparently from the passing of the tariff act in
1890. Glaze flakes upper right edge so tiny just
touching the print in two places, a couple of
minute rim chips. Perfect surface and spotlessly
clean. The image is full size at 72 dpi (about 430
pixels wide) in maximum quality JPEG format and on
screen is about the size as it would be in real
life at the same distance. A larger 120 dpi image
also in maximum quality JPEG format can be
forwarded by email if required. The image is a little oversize rather than
cropped close to the edges so that the edges can
easily be seen and any chips etc can be quickly
spotted. Other marks described are usually not
visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as
one normally sees it and can only be seen with a
critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch
imperfections in reflected light. For more details
of how we describe marks see Condition.
