Floral Transfer Printed and Coloured Tile
Style/technique: Floral print Manufacturer: T G & F Booth Pattern number: 1159 Dimensions: 6" x 6" Date: circa 1890   A super floral tile of wild roses with a printed black background that gives a great contrast. Coloured with four colours and additional white enamel to the leaf tips which also gives slight relief. Such floral tiles with shaded backgrounds are relatively uncommon and an interesting genre for collectors. Brown, black and blue backgrounds have been noted, presumably there were greens and maybe other colours too but they don't come along very often. Verso very clean, unmarked apart from printed pattern number the grid associated with Booth's.

The image is full size at 72 dpi (about 430 pixels wide) in maximum quality JPEG format. A larger 120 dpi image also in maximum quality JPEG format can be forwarded by email if required. The image is a little oversize rather than cropped close to the edges so that the edges can easily be seen and any chips etc can be quickly spotted. Other marks described are usually not visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as one normally sees it and can only be seen with a critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch imperfections in reflected light.
