One of a series of twelve Aesop's
Fables depicting the slaughtering of the 'Goose
which Laid the Golden Eggs', designed for them
by C O Murray and signed with his initials in
the bottom left corner. The series likely
originated from the late 1870's but the patented
lock back indicates a slightly later
manufacturing date. This has rather unusual
colouring, a black print but covered in a super
honey coloured translucent 'majolica' lead
glaze.
