A very pretty and colourful aesthetic design the central flower surrounded by decorative borders and corner motifs. Fabulous bright pink and soft blue, overglaze printed and painted in enamels indicating an earlier date. Medium brown print and four ahndpainted colours.

*Possibly Sherwin & Cotton, verso very clean with a little rust stain and unmarked is very nearly identical to a Sherwin & Cotton example in my collection but also similar to a grid widely associated with Wooliscroft.

Condition: Excellent
Price: £50 (approx $80)
Stock number: 01958

Some tiny edge chips on the left and bottom, a little wear to the decoration not unusual for tiles made by this process as overglaze decoration was fired at lower temperatures and obviously not protected by the glaze. A very clean and bright tile.

The image is full size at 72 dpi (about 430 pixels wide) in maximum quality JPEG format.

The image is a little oversize rather than cropped close to the edges so that the edges can easily be seen and any chips etc can be quickly spotted. Other marks described are usually not visible at all when the tile is viewed straight as one normally sees it and can only be seen with a critical eye when the tile is tilted to catch imperfections in reflected light. For more details of how we describe marks see Condition.
